Abstract

This project is to replace the F.E. Everett bridge in Merrimack, NH. The project will require a new foundation design as well as substructure and superstructure designs to ensure the safety of users. The new structure must allow three lanes of traffic in both directions because of future traffic predictions. Traffic control plans will also be produced due to the large traffic volumes and loads the bridge. The hydraulic adequacy of the bridge is paramount in the design of the proposed bridge, as rising water levels have caused the existing bridge to fail. The proposed structure will incorporate hydraulic adequacy with a reliable structure that can support current and future traffic loads while ensuring public and environmental safety. A cost estimate for bridge alternatives was created, and in-depth substructure and superstructure designs have been completed.
