Abstract

This study investigates the phenomenon of ultrasonic levitation. To establish a base on which to test a 3d printed stand was made to hold high frequency speakers and allow for adjustability to gather data about different factors that could affect the levitation of small objects. The data gathered shows that as distance increases between speakers the stability and strength of the levitation field decreases. An increase in the number of speakers increases the stability and strength of the levitation. We concluded that ultrasonic levitation, while having many useful applications, is size and weight limited. Further development is necessary to see more widespread adoption of the technology.
