Abstract

The Nashawannuck Brook is situated in Northampton, Massachusetts. This project focuses on rehabilitating a 0.65-mile stretch of the brook that passes through a 105-acre area that was previously a golf course. The stream is currently affected by two earthen dams, an armored and channelized segment, and an undersized leading culvert that disrupts its free-flowing state. The project investigates various restoration techniques to devise a recommended plan for restoration. The design focuses on restoring sections of the stream to near natural conditions, while reducing flows during large rainfall events.
