Abstract
Albedo Net.Stormâ„¢ is a network emulator capable of controlling network impairments, such as packet loss and latency, with the goal of emulating real-life network conditions. Our project focuses on building an interface to allow remote control of the emulator either by a user or via an API from a script. Our target users are students performing research and class experiments who will use the Net.Storm to supervise or change the network impairments to test the performance of the protocol in various real-life situations created by the emulator in their experiments. Since the experiments conducted using the Net.Storm must have exclusive access to the device, a job queuing system is used to facilitate execution of experiments by multiple users. By completing this project, our users can use Net.Storm more conveniently and efficiently, and Prof. Bartos can have better control of the device. The main goals of our project are to create a user interface for configuring the Net.Storm, create an API for controlling the Net.Storm programmatically, provide a job queueing system that can run experiments on the testbed autonomously and improve the way to treat the supervision and configuration requests from users to the Net.Storm to improve efficiency.
