Abstract
This poster describes a community outreach initiative through New Hampshire Family Voices (NHFV) that partners with libraries in New Hampshire. The project aims to expand access to developmental monitoring resources for families with young children.
We surveyed libraries across key regions to understand existing programming, family engagement, and support needs. Many libraries expressed interest in receiving materials and possibly hosting screening initiatives. Based on these findings, we developed and distributed handouts outlining developmental milestones from birth to five years across domains such as communication, fine motor skills, problem-solving, and social-emotional learning. These materials also include guidance for next steps, referrals, and connections to local resources.
Key findings highlight that libraries are trusted, accessible community hubs with strong potential to support early identification of developmental concerns. The project emphasizes that early detection improves outcomes and that libraries can play a critical role in connecting families to services.
Future efforts focus on expanding material distribution, building partnerships for screening programs, and training library staff to guide families in developmental monitoring and referrals.
