Abstract
The nursing home matching project was created to help the Sullivan County nursing home when they decided to transition into a new facility and wanted to take the opportunity to reassign roommates based on a survey. They were looking to combine medical needs with personalities to get the best matches possible for the new sets of roommates. The admin staff worked with nursing students to create a questionnaire to survey the residents that were currently living in the nursing home. Using this data, we used a modified Gale-Shapley algorithm to match residents to their best roommate, weighting the questions based on the importance given by the nursing team. The team also made sure to keep the algorithm dynamic to allow for new questions to be added to the survey. We also created a webapp that allowed residents to take the survey and lets administrators look at the results, see the analytics of the survey responses, search for specific residents, and add new questions to the survey. There are also admin logins to take the necessary precaution of keeping the residents’ medical information safe.
