Abstract

Racket sports, such as tennis and pickleball, have become increasingly popular in recent years. Many amateurs want ways to improve their skills, but personal trainers and existing athletic apps are far too expensive. These costs create a barrier that prevents many people from having a chance of playing racket sports competitively, ultimately reducing overall popularity and keeping the competitive stage from reaching new heights. Our device, powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, utilizes an IMU, Bluetooth module, and mobile app to provide a cheap and user-friendly way for any player to make note of their mistakes and sharpen their mechanics. It not only displays a multitude of relevant statistics, but also gives advice regarding possible adjustments that could be made to achieve the ideal swing, making it so users of all skill levels can leverage the advantages of it. The device is also lightweight and can be conveniently attached to the throat of a tennis racket, limiting the differences between swinging the racket normally and with it attached.
