Abstract
The present study is focused on the New Hampshire Juvenile Court Diversion Network. The NHJCDN was first created in the 1980s by a group of professionals who wanted to help low risk juvenile offenders who may benefit from diversion rather than traditional court processing. Over the years it has evolved and now serves juveniles statewide. For this study, we were interested in examining factors that predicted program completion for juveniles who participated in various NHJCDN accredited diversion programs in the State of New Hampshire. Possible factors we examined included the use of various restorative justice practices, mental health and substance use, and the amount of time between the juveniles’ offenses and various steps in the diversion program process while controlling demographic characteristics, offense level, and referral source.
