Abstract
Hayes Marsh Dam is located in Bear Brook Park in Allenstown, New Hampshire. The dam is owned and operated by The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and the dam’s impoundment, Hayes Marsh, is a Waterfowl Management Area. The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) was alerted to ongoing issues with the structure including regular overtopping events and excessive settlement of the inlet structure. As a result, the dam was declared inadequate in 2013. This student team from the University of New Hampshire has been appointed to assess the state of the dam, service needs of the structure, and investigate options for remediation that best meet stakeholder needs.
