Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects are some of the most important aspects in humanitarian development work. Addressing everything from clean drinking water to sanitary training, WASH projects are a necessity to improve people's overall quality of life. Disruptions such as COVID-19, conflict, and natural disasters lead to challenges for project success. To better understand how projects succeed during disruptions, or why they fail; a combination of a literature review, stakeholder interviews, and primary research was done. Documents such as case-studies, and peer-reviewed articles helped give background, while interviews provided a snapshot of projects during disruptions. Personal experience helped interpret the two and better analyze the findings. Learning how projects can be resilient to disruptions like COVID-19, assists in creating sustainable and long-term success. After the three research methods, a list of resilient and success factors was laid out over a WASH project timeline. Cross-cutting those factors allowed for the emergence of seven components that have the strongest influence on project success and resilience.
