Abstract

Nature’s Potential is a Senior Project designed to measure, record, and transmit energy data collected from a remotely located tree. The project seeks to explore two forms of tree-energy: electrochemical voltage difference between the tree trunk and surrounding soil as well as kinetic motion capture and conversion. This data is collected via microcontroller then exported to “the Cloud” using MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) protocol. The host for this data is AWS (Amazon Web Services). The project succeeded in data collection, measuring an average of hundreds of millivolts electrochemically, and converting micro-amperes from kinetic motion.
