Abstract

To help alleviate the stigma around mental health, NextStep HealthTech created the mobile app NextStep GoodLife which is used by youth and adolescents around the world to increase access to mental health resources and facilitate conversations about mental health. Our goal this year was to create new features to help improve the NextStep GoodLife app, and increase user engagement within the application. To do so, we created a video editing feature similar to other social media video editors, where users can create videos pertaining to their experiences with mental health. Users can add audio or filters to their content, and can upload it to the NextStep GoodLife platform for other users to see. To implement this we created three different application views. One for creating the content, one for selecting the audio and filters, and another to upload the content. These views were created with the intent of being easy to use and accessible, to once again achieve our goal which was to maximize user engagement. To achieve our goal, we wanted at least 15 new NextStep GoodLife users to sign up for the app and use our features. We will be able to receive this data once our features are implemented in the application.
