Renewable energy and sustainability efforts are currently rising in the industry, each of the three team members for this project have developed a related interest in energy and power design. The goal of this project was to research, develop, and test an electrical system that would emulate a fully solar powered dwelling. This system consists of a solar panel, a rechargeable battery, a smart switching circuit, and two loads. The smart switching circuit goal was to act as a current sensor, as well as an automated load center, shutting off multiple loads based on power consumption. This would then allow for the system to be powered by the solar panel and battery alone, without the need to be connected to an external power source. However, the finished design only consists of two loads that could automatically switch on and off.
