Abstract
This project is a part of the NH Disability and Public Health Project (DPH). The goal of this part of the project was to modify an in-person class into a virtual recorded module to train public health professionals about cultural competence with disability. The work consisted of two parts: 1) to research best practices for creating online recorded training; 2) to incorporate best practices in the development of an online training module that would help public health professionals think about and interact with people with disabilities in culturally competent ways. This poster illustrates the benefits and limitations, models and methods, and tips for creating virtual recorded lectures. This poster also demonstrates key strategies for using respectful communication with people with disabilities which is one of the several modules that make up the training. The DPH aims to improve the health and quality of life of people with disabilities in NH by developing and strengthening the capacity of state and regional public health programs to include people with disabilities. This helps remove barriers and facilitate respect and participation and is an important part of promoting access and inclusion.
