Abstract

Student Team 12 was paired with McFarland Johnson Inc. to complete a full bridge replacement with information given to us by our sponsor company. The existing bridge was a cast-in-place concrete bridge built in 1942. Years of service had led to the deterioration of the bridge deck, superstructure, and substructure. This was highlighted by the Federal Highway Administration rating of the bridge, which gave the bridge a poor grade overall. The groups’ objective was to investigate possible bridge designs and report our findings to our sponsor company. Time is of the outmost importance in this renovation, so the group will be looking at Accelerated Bridge Construction friendly design options. The recommended bridge design is shown in the poster with our alternative designs being shown in the groups presentation as well as the group report.
