Abstract

The Hell Gate Wharf is a 500’ by 70’ concrete wharf located off Hell Gate Strait in the Bronx, New York built circa 1910. The existing structure is in a severe state of disrepair, displaying erosion, spalling, efflorescence, and exposed reinforcement throughout the site. The project scope entails a load rating analysis of the existing structure, rehabilitation and replacement recommendations for the sub and superstructure to meet the desired live load criteria, and a fendering system design.
