Abstract
This project explores the design and analysis of the neutron spectrometer housing, which will be used to protect the device from failure while in transit to and in space. The neutron spectrometer must detect the quantity, intensity, and trajectory of the neutrons. The purpose of this failure analysis is to ensure the proper functionality of the neutron spectrometer, during its lifecycle. By obtaining this data, we can better protect personnel in space by establishing a neutron exposure limit. The primary points of suspected failure are thermal, vibrational, and structural loads, these were explored further in the analysis.
