Abstract

COVID-19 has caused many companies to introduce new guidelines that employees and visitors must adhere to. Many of these guidelines include enforcing building capacity limits and determining who may have been in close-contact with a person identified as COVID-19 positive. One way of ensuring these guidelines are not broken is to create a system that tracks individuals who enter and exit a particular space. Badger is a web-based system that interfaces with the UNH-IOL’s existing employee database, adding functionality for employees and visitors to indicate when they enter and leave the lab. Badger will improve the efficiency of tracing possible close-contacts and enforcing guideline limits, allowing the IOL to continue work as normal. This is performed by a person via a web interface or Google chatbot interaction, connecting with a SQL-based backend to log all events. Administrators can then perform close-contact lookups, generating reports indicating individuals who may have been in the same space at the same time as a person who has been identified as COVID-19 positive. The system also notifies individuals when building capacity limits are close to being reached, or if someone may have forgotten to indicate that they have entered or left the lab.
