I am reading from my thesis manuscript, a collection of poems titled IN THE SHAPE OF A WOMAN. The poems are lyric explorations in voice largely to do with American feminine embodiment, and wrestling with the familial, social, cultural, and religious baggage that come with being in a woman's body. Poems read include "What I Learned as a Girl Scout was How to Play America", "The Census Taker Asked Me to Tell Her About Myself", "Deersight", and "Poem" (the last two are forthcoming for publication in Hole in the Head Review).
