Abstract

Transferring from a community college into a UNH program can be a tedious and confusing process. The UNH Admissions office has been looking to fix this problem via a system that will easily display class correlations instead of relying on other resources. Pathways is a product that aims to alleviate this issue by providing a web interface to display any transfer information the user may need. By compiling the spreadsheets stored within UNH’s credit transfer database, our team worked to create a new database that stores the relationships between community college classes and major requirements. Using the FLASK framework, we created a web application that links our database to a user-friendly front-end built from our own HTML forms, with which incoming transfer students will find it easier to navigate their choices of classes to register. With this app, they can easily check which classes will be transferable to UNH in terms of credits. Once complete, the project will be given to the Admissions office, so they will have an easy to use and maintain course database web-tool for students and faculty. Ease of access for transfer students can not only reduce time and stress for those using the system, but can help cut inquiries to UNH support, and may even increase incoming transfers.
