The New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) has a wide network containing volunteers and contacts who serve as members of friend groups, appointed councils, and advisory organizations. Tracking the members affiliated with each of the five DNCR divisions is accomplished by staff members across the divisions in an unaligned manner. To address the issue of member management and encourage a new model of engagement between divisions and with the Department, we designed and built a Department Portal. Using Drupal, a free and open-source web content management framework, we built a functional front-end, back-end, and web page application to display and modify the current member data, including detailed information for each person and the division projects with which they are engaged. One key requirement is the ability for Department staff to find important information such as contact information for existing or expiring terms of board members, or how to contact all of the Department-interested individuals in a community or region of the state. By utilizing the modular elements of Drupal, our project is able to offer a collaborative environment for DNCR that serves as a single source of information and is accessible to all of the staff members.
