Abstract

The UNH Research Computing Center is behind in implementing cloud services. The cloud offers many benefits to them such as scalability, reliability and cost saving. The goal of Partly Cloudy is to facilitate research to help the UNH RCC integrate cloud services in any way possible. Some of the work being done to accomplish this is gathering research and creating a wiki, allowing for information on the three providers to be put in one place. We decided on what services would be most useful to researchers when conducting their work, and will be the main ones that are discussed on the wiki. These services include virtual machines, functions, and databases. People will be able to go on the wiki, see comparisons of the services, and decide which one is best for them and their use case. The people benefiting from this work will be the researchers who will come to the UNH RCC looking for information on the cloud platforms. Using the information that is available on the wiki, the UNH RCC will be able to help recommend what cloud services they believe researchers could use for their projects, and which provider would be best for them. This will vary for each project, but through the research we’ve done and the wiki to go with it, we will be able to help decide the best path to go down.
