Abstract
Within the RI-Val model of reading comprehension, the coherence threshold marks the point at which the reader has gained a sufficient level of comprehension in order to move on in a text. Previous research has demonstrated that the readers’ coherence threshold can be manipulated by increasing or decreasing the task demands (Williams, Cook, & O’Brien, 2018). The goal of the current research was to investigate the coherence threshold through manipulations of the text itself.
