Abstract

This project focuses on the design and fabrication of an adult-scale electric Mini Baja vehicle inspired by traditional Power Wheels, which are not designed for adult use. The objective was to develop a compact, durable, and off-road capable vehicle using a custom welded tubular steel frame and an integrated electric drivetrain. The chassis was modeled in SolidWorks and fabricated from ANSI 1020 steel tubing. Finite element analysis was performed to ensure a factor of safety greater than 2 under expected loading conditions. The suspension system includes an independent double wishbone front suspension and a rear swing arm to improve stability and handling on uneven terrain. The powertrain is based on a Talaria XXX donor system, using a 60 V lithium battery and a high-efficiency IPM motor. Power is delivered through a chain-driven solid rear axle. The vehicle achieves a top speed of approximately 35 mph.
