Abstract
Strengthening supportive education is vital to improving outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities in New Hampshire and beyond. A key component of this effort involves understanding the legislative process at the state level, including how bills are introduced, reviewed by committees, and influenced by public testimony and advocacy. Identifying and engaging with stakeholders, such as legislators, advocacy organizations, educators, and families, is crucial to shaping effective public policy. In New Hampshire, efforts to support inclusive education are guided by state and federal laws, with active involvement from agencies like the New Hampshire Department of Education and the New Hampshire Council on Developmental Disabilities. Supportive education services prioritize creating inclusive environments, strong school-family partnerships, and providing individualized instruction and accommodations. These initiatives are most effective when paired with policy efforts that promote equity, adequate funding, and collaboration across all levels of the educational system.
