Abstract
This project was presented to the University of New Hampshire Civil and Environmental Engineering seniors by H&H. The objective is to propose a reconstruction of a state-owned bridge located on NH Route 25A, over Brackett Brook in the town of Orford, NH. Built in 1929, the structure is a two-span reinforced concrete slab bridge to be updated based on current standards and specifications. This project's reconstruction design will consist of a proposed superstructure, substructure, vertical and horizontal curve designs for the bridge and surrounding transportation restraints. Through this reconstruction, the bridge will be removed from the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) Municipal Red List as it is currently classified as structurally deficient. A recommended phased construction will be provided to take into account the construction techniques required to achieve the proposed design without disrupting the current traffic conditions. A preliminary cost estimate will also be included that accounts for this recommendation.
