Abstract

The FSAE dynamometer is a dual-roller chassis system utilizing a water brake for dynamic load variation, enabling the team to quantitatively justify any modifications made to the engine and accurately measure power losses throughout the drivetrain. The dynamometer features a modular architecture, allowing it to be configured either as a standalone engine dyno or a wheel dyno, all within a compact and easily stowable footprint. Designed with an emphasis on in-house manufacturing, the system utilizes a broad range of the university’s fabrication capabilities. This project not only expands the team’s technical proficiency but also serves as a platform to strengthen documentation practices and promote the development of robust engineering practices.
