This work discusses applications for artificial photosynthesis in the current global energy landscape. Light absorbing semiconductors can act as catalysts for carbon dioxide reduction, and their interactions with light inform the efficiency of the materials. Light interaction can be studied by simply observing color changes in the materials, novel materials made in this work were found to have increased visible light absorbance and increased activity, which is well represented by observing the colors of the materials.
