Abstract

The development of a large-scale method to remove carbon dioxide effectively and efficiently from the atmosphere has become critical. One approach involves thermal catalysis and the conversion of carbon dioxide to methane. Nickel based, titanium dioxide, and heteropoly acid catalysts were synthesized and applied to this reaction. Additionally, bimetallic catalysts were developed, through galvanic displacement, for the conversion of carbon dioxide to methanol. The combination of silver-copper and silver-nickel were prepared to overcome the activation, stability, and conversion of precious metal-based catalysts. As we navigate towards a sustainable future, these innovative approaches hold promise for mitigating climate change by transforming carbon dioxide into valuable products.
