Abstract
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) needs to develop a rapidly deployable temporary bridge for emergency purposes as a result of storm events and critical condition red list bridges. This project includes an analysis of materials and resources available to the DOT to design a bridge that can span 50 feet over or around existing structures to allow traffic to continue and remove loads from the failed structure while minimizing cost and time of construction. A bridge consisting of friction treated Acrow decking units, W24x68 steel girders, and precast concrete block abutments was designed to be erected at any applicable site. Material inventory, cost analysis, structural analysis, and outlined construction procedures were all accounted for in the design of this temporary bridge.
