Abstract

Antennas are an integral tool for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves propagating through space in order to relay information. They play a fundamental role in various communication systems, allowing for wireless exchange of information. Many types exist, each displaying unique radiation characteristics suitable for different functions. This project explores the design and construction of a phased array antenna for duplex operation, allowing a user to utilize two different frequencies from one array. This capability is integral for accessing amateur radio repeaters, which receive on the 2m band and transmit on the 70cm band. A phased array antenna on these bands would allow the user to steer the transmission pattern in the direction of nearby repeaters without physically moving the structure. The designed array uses 24V relays controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller to switch between the delay feed lengths, enabling beam steering on both 70cm and 2m bands.
