Abstract

Search and rescue (SAR) is a way in which groups of knowledgeable people from around an area can combine their abilities to save endangered or hurt victims in hard-to-reach locations. In the world of SAR, these people can have multiple types of rescue locations. One of them being trailside assistance. Snow Emergency (SnowE) has reached out and worked with these groups tailored to the northern Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) trails to create and upgrade their supplies in need of this endeavor. With a significant portion of outdoor enthusiasts traversing these remote areas, these riders often encounter emergencies ranging from medical crises to small scrapes and bruises. This creates the need for efficient and effective first-response capabilities among these communities. A First Response trailer was created to address the existing gaps in SAR infrastructure. Over the years of use with these trailers, the groups in Northern New Hampshire have come up with ideas to fix and or upgrade these designs but lack the time to. By collaborating with these local authorities and SAR organizations our team has taken the responsibility to develop a versatile trailer equipped with essential supplies tailored to the unique demands of OHRV trail emergencies. Through construction, this project seeks to contribute not only to the immediate safety and well-being of outdoor enthusiasts but also to the ongoing dialogue surrounding emergency management in remote and challenging environments. By creating this upgraded SAR Trailer the local communities will have enhanced capabilities to foster a safer trail system in Northern New Hampshire and beyond.
