Abstract

Organic semiconductors offer multiple advantages in lieu of inorganic silicon-based semiconductors including reduced costs, lower toxicity, diminished environmental impact, adjustable properties, and their ability to be integrated within flexible materials. Pentacene based molecules are proven organic semiconductors used for thin-film electronic devices like transistors, solar cells, and light emitting devices such as displays. Several different disubstituted pentacenes (as well as their precursors) were synthesized for their ability to possess excellent solubility and electronic properties.
