Abstract

Our goal is to design rapidly deployable housing for disaster relief efforts. This structure must be sturdy, secure, event-resistant, reconfigurable, and off-grid capable. Our design consists of 3D-printed concrete blocks to assemble the walls with the help of a hydraulic skyhook, metal roof panels, and a specialized shipping container. The shipping container will be supported by several jacks, and its walls and front fold outward to become extra flooring and a ramp. By working with the concrete 3D-printing company, MADCO3D in Rochester, NH, we aim to bring our designs to fruition, adding a new solution to disaster relief efforts.
