Workforce Shortage Solutions for New Hampshire Direct Care Workers: Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Medicaid Program for Parent Caregivers, and Educational Guidelines for Direct Support Professionals

My NH-ME LEND Leadership Placement was a 70-hour policy placement with the New Hampshire Council on Developmental Disabilities (NHCDD). This included following the legislative bill SB430 and writing testimony in support, but with an increase of pay for a parent payment program. This more equitable increase was to support families covering unfilled private duty nursing shifts due to the workforce shortage. Another piece was participating in NHCDD's meetings, and one included the Workforce Committee where members collaborated to submit a letter based on Direct Support Professionals Education and Certificates Guidelines for clarity for the Bureau of Developmental Service Systems Work.
